Breast Surgeons Issue New Mammogram Guidelines

The new guidelines recommend that all women have a formal risk assessment by age 25. Women with an increased risk of breast cancer should be screened based on their specific risk factors. Women with average risk should begin annual screening at age 40.

Among nearly 14,200 newborns studied, 8 had genitals that did not make their gender clear. That's a rate of 1.3 in 1,000 births -- much higher than the one in 4,500 to 5,500 reported in previous studies.
