Infants are likely exposed to an average daily dose of nearly 1.6 million microplastic particles through baby formula they drink from heated plastic bottles, researchers estimated in the Oct. 19 issue of Nature.
The drug, marketed under the brand name Rinvoq, also helped twice as many patients enter remission from their rheumatoid arthritis, according to a report in the Oct. 15 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
The association between birth weight and a-fib is controversial, which led the authors of this study to investigate it. Using a special data analysis technique, the researchers concluded that there was a link between greater birth weight and an increased risk of a-fib later in life.
